Look up the term &quot;alternative forest products.&quot;  This includes economic uses that don&#039;t involve cutting the trees down.

You could also look up Mahogany.  It is a famous tree- the black piano keys were originally made of this.  No longer, though; the originally used species is close to extinction.
There are a number of industries which rely on tropical plants that are becomming rarer- like guitars.  Some of the better woods to use for the resonance have been used so often that the source trees are becomming much harder to find.

Will rainforests&#039; medicines be there forever?  No, not if the rainforest is no longer there.

The loss of genetic diversity in the future is going to be a bit of a problem.

Have you tried using scholar.google.com?  Look up basic key words focusing on a particular topic.  Most of the results are from singular-minded researchers and too broad a keyword may be too much.
