This is such a complex subject I don’t know where to start.
Look up the term “alternative forest products.” This includes economic uses that don’t involve cutting the trees down.
You could also look up Mahogany. It is a famous tree- the black piano keys were originally made of this. No longer, though; the originally used species is close to extinction.
There are a number of industries which rely on tropical plants that are becomming rarer- like guitars. Some of the better woods to use for the resonance have been used so often that the source trees are becomming much harder to find.
Will rainforests’ medicines be there forever? No, not if the rainforest is no longer there.
The loss of genetic diversity in the future is going to be a bit of a problem.
Have you tried using scholar.google.com? Look up basic key words focusing on a particular topic. Most of the results are from singular-minded researchers and too broad a keyword may be too much.
Rainforest; economy; mining; products… etc.
