Preterm labor, vaginal bleeding of unknown origin, premature rupture of membranes. If you want a short hospital stay that doesn't end in her delivering the baby just yet you could have the woman go to her doctor for decreased fetal movement. They would admit her to the hospital for a non-stress test and IV hydration and then send her home either that day or the next day if everything checks out. They would keep her over night for preterm labor until there have been no contractions without the aid of medications to stop them for at least 24 hours. If her water breaks most doctors would keep the mother indefinitely until she delivers the baby.

I personally, was hospitalised from 27 weeks onwards with placenta praevia. I had a large bleed, and as the baby can not be born naturally, had to stay on bedrest until I had him at 36 weeks via caesarian. Just an idea, good luck with the story.
