Carolyn asked:

Hi all, I went to Chiang Mai Thailand in late September and have been very unwell since my return. Doctors have been unable to give me a diagnosis, brain scan and bloods all normal. Could I have picked up a tropical disease or virus? Symptoms are numbness in face, legs and arms. Leg and buttock pain. Also I have Confusion, headaches and forgetfulness. I’m so fed up with being in pain and ill.

Did you get Vaccinations before you went there?
You could have picked up some strange tropical virus!
You may even have to go back there to get a diagnosis!

More than likely you came down with a virus, but it isn’t the west nile though the symtoms of the West Nile according to Wikipedia.org is extremly high fever, along with chills, headaches, along with other symtoms to that of the common cold. West Nile is mainly transported through a very special mosquito.

I had West Nile, and I can say your symptoms sound nothing like mine. I didn’t catch it from a very special mosquito, though. Just a normal one here in Oklahoma.
You need to get yourself to the Mayo Clinic ASAP so a doctor with real experience can see you.
