I’ve had battles with gout off and on for a couple of years. I don’t know why but the attacks always get worse when the weather warms up even a little bit. I never have an attack in the winter. I quit drinking so that should help. I haven’t seen anything about drinking soda but I swear that when I drink soda my gout gets real bad. I can’t take antiinflammatory drugs and this other medicine I’ve taken in the past takes the pain away but makes me sicker than a dog. The only thing that seems to help is cherry juice but I can only find it at the health food store for like $16 and it only lasts a couple of weeks. The cababage leaf thing was nasty and didn’t do anything for my foot. I’ve had gout so bad I couldn’t even walk from my car to the pharmacy to get my medicine. My question is what else works? Do I have to drink the actual cherry juice or could I take some sort of capsule? If you’ve had gout what has worked for you to prevent or cure the symptoms?

Hi there,

I’m realatiely new to fish keeping. Only for about 9 months, I now have a Plattie with Dropsy, well I think thats what it is. She’s all swollen up and her scales are poking out and her eyes are poking out. I don’t have another tank I can put her in and I don’t have a car to get anywhere to get one.

I’ve treated the water with anti bacterial medicine and salt from the pet shop.
I have read this is fatal but how much longewr is she going to suffer? She has had itr about a week. Everyone has told me to put her out of her misery but I just don’t have the stomach for that.

Do you really think its the only option?

I have recently purchased three baby clown loaches touch wood no problems at moment . I usually like to stock medications for emergencies but have been told to take care with clowns and medication so doing a little research have come across Melafix and Primafix and was wondering if anyone knows if these medications are effective but also safe to use with clowns in the tank ? Do I also have to halve the dose of the medicine as I was told to do with others ? Thanks for any help am just afraid of doing any harm to them .

I have been treating the tank properly with a medicine called “QuICK Cure.” It is a petco product that, according to customer reviews, works wonders on curing ick (ich.) So far i’ve noticed that, yes, my fish have been losing the white flakes, but it seems that the water now has floating white particles that resemble dandruff.

I’ve never noticed these before and i’m wondering if it is the fallen ick (ich) [though there is way too much to have come from my four platies.]

Any ideas of what it might be?
