tropical forests contain a wealth of plants that are potential new sources of food , as well as sources of medicine and other useful products. the developing nations of the tropics cannot develop these resources themselves .under pressure from growing populations and debt, they are cutting their forests for lumber and farmland , and many species are disappearing developed countries are pressuring the tropical countries to protect the forest before even more species are lost. is there a way to preserve tropical forests so that both developed and developing nations will benefit from their abundance?
