However, there are groups of plants that are known for the production of active compounds useful in treating diseases. There are plant hunters that actively seek out such plants.

uhm, i think the great biology ‘xpert go two letters mashed together. lol, i would say…E. then again i’m 13 years old.
i would think that the best way to figure out what plants would be best you’d have to observe traditions from people who, i would think, are miles away from society and have to fend for themselves. it’s like toothpaste on a zit, it works and people have been using that for ever.
Animals would also be very helpful if observed. trial and error experience would teach them which are best for what. So basically, chemical analysis wouldn’t give you the insight you need right away. then again what do i know, i’m 13.
